Approach
How we think
Architecture is developed through the relationships between place, life, climate, structure, material and time.
Architecture is both a setting for life and part of a wider landscape and culture. Our work is to create spatial and material relationships that could belong nowhere else.
Begin with place
We study light, wind, topography, views and neighbouring buildings to find a framework specific to the site.
Life and experience
Practical life and architectural expression are not opposites. Movement, changing light and the touch of materials shape daily experience.
Structure as architecture
Structural logic is developed as part of the architectural idea, often through early collaboration with engineers and makers.
Material and time
A building is not complete only at handover. We consider how care, use and memory allow it to gain value over time.
Design through dialogue
Open conversation reveals the values behind a brief and creates the foundation for a singular response.
Process
From conversation to completion
The scope and sequence are adapted to project location, scale and local requirements.
- 01
Phase 01
Conversation and site study
We discuss the project background, site, programme, budget and intended timeframe.
- 02
Phase 02
Concept design
Models, drawings and visual studies establish the spatial and structural framework.
- 03
Phase 03
Design development
Materials, structure, environmental systems and key details are coordinated with the project team.
- 04
Phase 04
Documentation and procurement
The design is documented and coordinated with local approvals, cost planning and contractor selection.
- 05
Phase 05
Construction and completion
TNdesign remains involved to protect design intent, with responsibilities agreed for each jurisdiction.
